More About Angela Pham Krans (She/Her)

Languages: English

Angela Pham Krans is the award-winning author of FINDING PAPA, which received ALA’s Asian/Pacific American Honor Award for Literature. Her other titles include WORDS BETWEEN US and ANOTHER WORD FOR NEIGHBOR (HarperCollins, 2025).

While the writing bug bit long ago, she only found the courage and determination to write after reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Big Magic. And nothing’s more magical than being a creator and cultivator of children’s stories and making something visible out of the invisible.

Angela enjoys writing humorous and heartfelt stories that highlight relationships between family, friends, and community. When Angela isn’t writing, she enjoys traveling, trying new recipes, and spending time with family. Angela lives in Atlanta with her husband, Hamilton, and their rambunctious dog, Archer.

What Angela is Looking for…

Angela is open to working with creators from all backgrounds and with someone who is ready to foster a partnership based on mutual respect, kindness, and love of storytelling for kids.

She is looking for a storyteller who is actively learning and improving their craft, but also someone who values progress over perfection. She hopes to connect with a mentee who is positive, open to constructive feedback and ready to revise!

Angela is hoping to focus on 1-2 manuscripts during the mentorship program. She loves fiction and non-fiction stories that are authentic, interesting, and aligns with what the mentee loves. Not all meetings have to be manuscript related -- Angela is also interested in working with someone who wants to learn about the publishing industry as a whole.

A Note from Angela:

“Thank you for considering me as a mentor for this wonderful mentorship program. I am excited to learn more about you as a person and creator!

When completing your application, please indicate your goals for the mentorship and the specific areas you would like to obtain feedback or guidance on. I want to make sure I'm meeting your needs and driving towards your goals. And just as importantly, I would love to get to know you as a person, so let your personality, flair, and quirks shine through!

We will be working hard, having fun, but also taking time to rest. Resting allows you to step away for a moment to refill your well and allow your back brain process to work freely. I believe making space will allow wonderful ideas to bubble up when you least expect it!

Lastly, this mentorship is one of many wonderful opportunities out there to connect, grow and journey forward in your publishing journey. No matter what, you should be proud of what you've accomplished and putting yourself out there!”
