More About Sita Singh (She/Her)
Languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati
Sita Singh is an Indian American children’s author of award-winning picture books. An architect in the past, Sita now writes stories that explore themes of heritage, identity, and belonging. Sita’s writing journey began after immigrating to the United States and realizing that the experiences of families like her own were not reflected in the books her children were reading.
Sita’s titles include Birds of a Feather, illustrated by Stephanie Fizer Coleman, and Mango Memories, illustrated by Nabi H. Ali, both published by Penguin Random House. She has also penned a board book, Let’s Celebrate Diwali, illustrated by Nina Ghataora and published by Mudpuppy Kids. Her upcoming title, Indigo Hands, illustrated by Maithili Joshi, will release on August 25, 2026, from Penguin Random House. Birds of a Feather was a 2022 Dolly Parton Imagination Library selection and Mango Memories was a 2024 Gold Medal winner at the Florida Book Awards.
Sita lives in South Florida with her family and a very curious dog. When she isn’t reading or writing, you can catch her trying new recipes in the kitchen, practicing yoga, and walking with her dog.

What Sita is looking for…
Sita is looking for a mentee who is passionate about writing for children, eager to learn and grow in their craft, and genuinely enjoys the revision process.
She hopes to work with someone who is ready to revise 1-2 manuscripts over the duration of the mentorship and wants to learn about the publishing process, from querying agents to working with editors and understanding the path to publication.
Sita is excited to work with a BIPOC writer and is especially interested in culturally rooted stories and lived experiences.
A Note from Sita:
“I’ve learned so much as a writer simply by reading a lot of picture books and staying open to revision. The more I read, the more I notice what feels true in a story, and the more I revise, the clearer the story becomes. I enjoy working with writers who are curious about their process and willing to try things out, rethink choices, and keep going back to the page. If you’re someone who finds joy in exploring ideas, embracing feedback, and letting your story grow over time, I’d love to support you along the way.”
